This past weekend ended with the most impressive grand finale that I’ve experienced in quite a while… Folks, if you live in the NYC area, take the short drive up into the Hudson Valley to the Van Cortland Manor and check out The Great Jack O Lantern Blaze!! Great really doesn’t describe FIVE THOUSAND pumpkins carved into some of the most creative sculptures I’ve ever seen. – It takes 30 volunteers THREE HOURS every night just to light all of the pumpkins!
Our weekend started with a nice quiet Friday night in, with a quick trip around the corner to try Beard Papa’s Cream Puffs… They had a special pumpkin spice flavored puff we tried as well as a dulce de leche flavor … They were delicious!
Saturday morning, we woke up early and drove north to go for a hike and enjoy the fan foliage while it’s still around
It was much chillier than we’d expected and than in was in the city so we stopped to warm up with a cup of french onion soup at a Diner
Before rehydrating at the Tousey Winery
Then we finished our day apple picking at Greig Farm… Their selection of apple varieties was larger than anything I’ve ever seen before!
Oh and did I mention we saw some incredible Jack O Lanterns Sunday night??
I hope everyone enjoys their final week of October!!
