A WEEKEND AT THE RACES
Hi friends! Happy Monday! I know I’ve been totally MIA in the blogging world but I PROMISE I’m still alive and I’m SO happy to be back on the blog! After a crazy few weeks with lots of traveling and adding a bunny to our family we really wanted to have a relaxing weekend around the city… We ended up playing tourists and going to watch the horse race, but it was SO MUCH FUN!
Saturday morning we headed down towards Little Italy to have brunch at Seamore’s. I’d been dying to bring Sal here since eating here with some girlfriends about a month ago. When my friends and I had met for brunch we shared the avocado fritters which were possibly the best avocado related food I had ever had! Sadly, they no longer serve the fritters during brunch (they’re still available during dinner) so we ordered avocado toast and fish cake bennies.
Next we swung through the LES to grab a cup of cold brew from RISE Coffee‘s pop up cafe. A few of Sal’s old high school classmates recently started this coffee company so we were excited to try this and it was SO good we can’t wait to stop back for another cup soon!
THE BELMONT STAKES
We then grabbed the LIRR out to The Belmont Stakes. We went to The Preakness a few years ago and I’ve been wanting to go to Belmont ever since! Despite knowing there’d be no Triple Crown this year is was still an exciting race!
Who doesn’t love dressing up and going to a horse race?!
To cap off the day with a sweet treat we stopped at The Smith. I’d been wanting to try their s’mores in a jar for a few weeks now and it was even better than any picture had made me think it’d be! If you’re in NYC and looking for a super sweet + tasty dessert, be sure to try this!!
CURRENTLY READING: THE NEST
The rest of my free time this weekend I spent with my nose in The Nest! The Nest is fun summer read/novel book that takes place in NYC and is about a dysfunctional family. If you’re looking for a fun, entertaining book to read this summer you should check it out!
