A WEEKEND IN VIRGINIA
Hi friends! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and had some time to enjoy the sun!! We went to Virginia this past weekend to catch up with some of our old friends!
FLYING TO KORF
Friday afternoon, Sal and I met at the airport to fly down to Norfolk, Virginia. There was no way I was going to head to the beach without a good beach read so I picked up this new book by Emma Staub that was on my list of books I wanted to read this summer. Once we landed we met a few of our friends out at a new rooftop bar in down town Ghent. Supper Southern Morsels definitely would’ve been a regular spot had they been in business back when we still lived in this area. They’re one of the only bars open until 2AM in Ghent and the kitchen was open late too – we had fried oysters, steak fingers, mac and cheese and hush puppies. The steak fingers were served with a gravy so delicious and thick, Sal thought it was mashed potatoes!
FEASTING WITH FRIENDS
Saturday we kicked off with brunch at another new spot – Hair of The Dog. What a great brunch spot!!! I had the Chesapeake Benedict’s which I finished every last drip of and everyone else’s food looked just as tasty!
Next, we headed to the oceanfront to visit our favorite old hangout, Waterman’s. If you’ve been to Virginia Beach and missed Waterman’s, then you HAVE to go back! There Orange Crushes are worth making a trip for alone, and their crab dip is a great snack!
For dinner, we ended the night at Luna Maya, we shared many meals with these friends during Sal’s residency so we had to go back here. Their mojitos are my favorite and you can’t order enough of their guac.
After spending Saturday with Sal’s friends we decided to head out to my old stomping ground on Sunday, The Chesapeake Regional Airport. I spent a year and a half instructing out of this airport and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I was lucky to catch a ride with one of my old students in his L19 – it was so much fun to see Chesapeake from the air again!
I hope everyone has a great week!!
Do you have any fun plans for the upcoming Holiday Weekend?!
